The Six Distinctives

VCF has 6 Distinctives :)

  1. Evangelical - to be committed to the Gospel, to base everything we do on Scripture.
  2. Evangelistic - to proclaim His Gospel, and to declare His glory.
  3. Student-initiated - responsibility as evangelists to students and leadership of the ministry falls primarily on the shoulders of students ourselves.
  4. Church-oriented - for VCF does not seek to replace the local church, but exists as a para-church organisation which trains undergraduates in student ministry to benefit the local churches in return.
  5. Inter-denominational - being para-church, VCF recognises the universal church of believers as the body of Christ.
  6. Missions awareness - seeing the bigger picture of the church, we are also to be exposed to the people’s need for God all aroud the world.

The Need for Distinctives

  1. Distinctives are core values of the ministry and define our heritage or history and the ethos of our work
  2. Distinctives of our ministry distinguishes us from other similar organisations or even the local churches we serve; and
  3. Distinctives remind us regularly what we exist for and will continue to promote as we continue to strengthen and pioneer student work.
